"Being a professional guide and a son of a ranch butcher, I've skinned a lot of animals and a knife that can hold a sharp edge is a must. I've used many brands of knives and Kestrel Knives are the only one I've found that can hold a sharp edge the longest. I bought my first EDC about 3 years ago and skinned 2 elk and a 1,200 lbs buffalo with it so far and still haven't had to use my wet stone to resharpen it." Latigo Hext
“Used my Kestrel knife on my antelope buck. This is the third animal that I’ve used the knife on and it works awesome. It’s so light and thin you don’t even know it’s in your pack. The other thing I really like is that it’s so simple…no folding mechanism or blades to cut yourself on while changing them out (Havalon!) but enough mass behind the blade to really carve against bone, pry with, or whatever. Kestrel has it figured out…simple, effective, light, and cutting edge (pun intended)” David Hamilton Vortex Optics
"What a great knife. These are the lightest weight knives I’ve ever seen and truly a necessity for the backcountry hunter." Chris C.
"Dig my Kestrel knife. You never notice that you are even carrying it. At G3 Outfitters, we do some backpack hunting and we endorse this fine product. From Alaska to New Mexico's Gila Wilderness, I pack a Kestrel." H Jay Platt G3outfitters
I wanted to share a photo of my 11 1/2 year old warrior NWT ram. Absolutely fantastic hunt in beautiful country. I used my Kestrel Ti knife to cape for a life sized mount. Your knife stayed sharp and is a joy to carry, perfect for sheep hunting. Thanks! Tom Oregon
I heard about Kestrel knives from Jason @ Kuiu and called him to see what he had to offer. After he sent me a titanium ultra light knife to look at, I immediately ordered several of them. I used it on a recent Stone sheep hunt in BC and it was wonderful and unbelievably lightweight. It retained its edge through the dressing and full body caping and is still sharp enough for several more. I had taken a couple of other kestrels with me and gave them to my guide and wrangler. They loved the feel and weight and the way the knife kept its edge.
I've since ordered several more and will be passing them out around the world. Thanks Nate for a great knife and great customer interaction!!!! Tom
"Kodiak 2013 ended with a billy goat, two Sitka Blacktail deer and a caribou. All dressed with the kestrel ultralighter in my hands. It does take some getting used to but once you understand how the knife works it cuts like butter and stays sharp... I only touched up the knife once with a field sharpening kit from Nathan after three animals and only because I wanted to try the sharpening kit. To my surprise I worked well fleshing out hides as well as cutting through meat.I use this knife all the time now, from cutting rope, meat, hides, vegetables, cardboard and whatever else happens to need severing. This is a great knife that's extremely light and stays sharp and will stay on my pack on all my future hunts." Jon C.
"My personal “kudos” to Nathan on designing an ultralight knife that will to meet the needs of Mountain Hunters. Great job. I recommend that serious Mountain Hunters purchase this very innovative knife to “take their game to another level. " Randy Johnson, Full Curl Society Hall of Fame, High Desert Wild Sheep Guides.
Nathan, just a quick note of thanks and to rave about my experience using your knives. We’ve gone through sheep, caribou and countless whitetails using various models all with outstanding results. The design and function are flawless and the emphasis on weight has made them a big hit as gifts for several guides along my travels. And scary sharp, got a few scars to attest to this fact. Can’t tell you how much I appreciate the craftsmanship and service. Customer for life.
